I despise seeing ‘ette’ or ‘enne’ thrown at the end of otherwise non gender specific words. Like ‘entreprenette’ or ‘comedienne’ as if it matters now that women are pursuing those ventures we must find a way to differentiate them. A woman is just as much of an entrepreneur or comedian as any man, there is no reason to change the title except to make it explicitly clear that it is a woman. Why cant we just be business persons, why do words have to be pulled out of someones ass just to ensure that the woman’s title is different from the man’s.
I don’t normally go off on these topics like this, and I don’t want to sound pretentious; but seriously, what in the actual fuck is the point of creating a new word just so it can be female specific? Lord knows I am melodramatic, but tell me that isn’t oppressive!
